Bobby Motaung Opens Up on His Current Role at Chiefs Amid Stepping Aside Rumours

Kaizer Chiefs Football Manager Bobby Motaung has finally addressed rumours suggesting that he has stepped aside from his management responsibilities at the club, explaining his current position within the organisation.

Motaung, who has been an important figure in the administration of the Soweto giants for many years, has clarified that he has not completely withdrawn from the club’s management structure. However, he explained that his current involvement is more focused on offering support, guidance and experience to the people handling the day-to-day responsibilities.

For a long time, Motaung played an important role in the club’s football operations, including player recruitment and the appointment of coaches. His influence made him one of the most recognisable figures behind the scenes at Naturena.

Speaking on Marawa Sports Worldwide on Wednesday, Motaung explained that he could never completely distance himself from Kaizer Chiefs because of his connection to the club and the legacy of the Motaung family.

He also acknowledged that football has changed significantly over the years, with modern technology, technical developments and new challenges requiring clubs to adopt different approaches to management.

According to Motaung, the game has become more complicated, with more people involved in different areas of football administration. He believes that these changes have created the need for additional expertise and support within the organisation.

Addressing his continued involvement, he made it clear that he remains committed to serving the club.

“There are certain things we can’t step aside from, the Chiefs legacy, the chairman’s legacy,” Motaung explained.

He further stated that he remains part of the organisation and continues to contribute through his experience and understanding of the club.

“I’m part of the family. I’m part of the organisation. I’m serving the organisation. We’re serving. The game has grown. The challenges have grown. There’s more hands in the game,” he added.

His comments suggest that although his responsibilities may have evolved, he remains connected to the leadership and administration of Kaizer Chiefs.

The development comes as the club continues working towards improving its performances and rebuilding its position among South Africa’s leading football teams.
