Mahama Told to Recover Looted Funds and Jail Offenders or Else Ghanaians Won’t Forgive Him

The Convener of the Justice and Accountability Forum, Nana Bonsu, has called on Attorney General and Minister of Justice Dominic Ayine to provide Ghanaians with urgent updates on ongoing high-profile corruption cases before the courts.

Nana Bonsu recalled that the Attorney General had previously assured the public that several former government appointees accused of corruption would be prosecuted and made to account for their actions.

Speaking on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM on October 30, 2026, he expressed concern over the apparent lack of progress reports on some of the cases involving individuals accused of misappropriating public funds.

He questioned why the Attorney General, who had earlier given strong assurances about the government’s commitment to prosecuting alleged corrupt officials, had become less forthcoming with public updates on the cases.

Nana Bonsu warned that Ghanaians would hold the current administration accountable if it failed to prosecute those implicated in corruption and recover public resources allegedly stolen from the state.

He stressed the need for the government to pursue the recovery of all misappropriated funds and take steps to confiscate properties believed to have been acquired through proceeds of corruption.

“We must do our best in recovering every stolen cash from those who stole from us while we take steps to confiscated every property ill-goten from the stolen resources,” he said.

He also appealed to President John Dramani Mahama to ensure that his administration fulfils its commitment to retrieving stolen public funds.

According to Nana Bonsu, the corruption cases must be handled without unnecessary delays to ensure that those responsible are held accountable and the state recovers its losses.

He further pledged that the Justice and Accountability Forum would continue to demand regular updates on the prosecutions and recovery efforts until every misappropriated amount owed to the public purse is retrieved.
