Ruto reveals Putin’s decision to stop recruiting Kenyans into Russian army

President William Ruto has announced that Russia will no longer enlist Kenyans into its military following talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow.In a statement shared on his X account on Friday, October 30, 2026, Ruto said Putin had confirmed that Kenya had been categorised as a non-source country for recruitment into the Russian military, effectively stopping further enlistment of Kenyans through the country’s military recruitment system.
