If God is not included, you are playing – Woman tells couples
A Nigerian woman has urged people to involve God in their relationships and marriages, arguing that faith, wisdom and emotional restraint should guide how partners handle disagreements.
In a video shared on Instagram, she questioned whether couples turn to their faith when conflicts arise, suggesting that some people focus on winning arguments rather than resolving their differences.
“Many of you don’t include God. Many of you don’t include wisdom in your relationship,” she said.
She challenged couples to consider how they respond when both partners are upset, arguing that disagreements do not have to escalate into fights or threats of separation.
“It takes two to fight. It takes two to fight. One person to fight,” she said, urging partners to pause and seek to understand the cause of the disagreement instead of immediately responding with anger.
She also encouraged couples to turn to the Bible for guidance when tensions rise.
“How many of you have issues with your partner and right in the midst of that issue, you pull out your Bible? How many of you don’t do that thing before?” she asked.
The woman said the Bible presents marriage as something good, challenging the idea that relationships must inevitably be associated with frustration, anxiety and conflict.
“They don’t say, ‘He who finds a wife or a husband will enter problem. You will die for frustration. You will die for toxicity. You will die for anxiety.’ There is nothing like that in the Bible,” she said.
She argued that people should be willing to exercise patience and self-control rather than allowing anger to dictate their conduct during disagreements.
She also urged those seeking partners to consider whether the people they choose share their faith and values.
“Pick people who have empathy. Pick people who have emotional intelligence and wisdom. Pick people who rather keep quiet when they are angry. Pick people who love God. Pick people who have the fear of God,” she said.
She added that people must also be willing to learn, accept responsibility for their actions and work towards resolving problems through their faith.
