Police Launch Probe As Ex-AIK Stars, Swedish International Face Match-Fixing Allegations

A massive match-fixing scandal has sent shockwaves through Swedish football following revelations that three former AIK players allegedly tried to throw an Allsvenskan fixture in 2023.

Explosive reports from Expressen claim the trio deliberately attempted to lose the match on purpose, triggering a full-scale police investigation into the club’s 2023 campaign.

Adding further fuel to the fire, SVT Sport revealed that one of the primary suspects is a household name and former Swedish international footballer.

The 2023 AIK squad was stacked with international talent, boasting names like Mikael Lustig, Sebastian Larsson, John Guidetti, Jimmy Durmaz, Nabil Bahoui, Anton Salétros, Alexander Milošević, Sotirios Papagiannopoulos, and Kristoffer Nordfeldt.

While authorities have kept the exact names under wraps, media pressure is mounting as investigators dig deeper into the Allsvenskan clash.

Confronted by journalists over his alleged involvement in the fix, the suspected former national team star stonewalled reporters with a tight-lipped “No comment.”

Police lead investigator Andreas Morander confirmed the active crackdown, stating: “We have an ongoing investigation; we are gathering evidence and reviewing it.” The match in question ended in defeat for AIK.
