Today’s Headlines:Don’t start your campaign October 31, it will backfire – Primate Ayodele warns Atiku, ADC ; Tinubu Has Done No Wrong to Igbo-Okorocha

The Leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has issued a strong warning to the African Democratic Congress, ADC, and its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, over their campaign kickoff date.

In a video posted on his Facebook page on Thursday, Primate Ayodele warned the party not to commence its campaign on October 31, 2026, as earlier planned.

According to him, the party should shift the commencement to any date in November to avoid trouble, stating that his warning is spiritual and should not be ignored.

“Change the date of your campaign commencement from 31 October to any date in November,” Ayodele said.

Former Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha has defended President Bola Tinubu against criticism in Nigeria’s South-East, stating that the president has not wronged the Igbo people. Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Okorocha noted that Tinubu maintained cordial relationships with Igbo individuals, including close friends from his time in Lagos, and argued that regional opposition should not be equated with personal grievances against the federal government or the president himself.Okorocha compared the current level of resentment toward Tinubu in Imo State and the broader South-East with the stronger hostility directed at the late former President Muhammadu Buhari during his administration. He explained that the All Progressives Congress faced significant internal challenges in Imo while Buhari was in power, adding that the “hate for Buhari can’t be compared to the imagery hate for Tinubu.” He cautioned people against mistaking transferred dissatisfaction with a governor or local issues for a protest specifically against Tinubu.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has blamed some of its registration officers for introducing suspected artificial intelligence-generated photographs and other irregularities into the preliminary register of voters.

INEC’s Director of Information and Communication Technology, Dr Lawrence Bayode, disclosed this on Friday during an interview on Arise Television, saying some registration officers used their login details to introduce questionable records into the commission’s database.

Bayode said the irregularities were discovered through the commission’s Automated Biometric Identification System, which was deployed to examine the registration records.

“We have registration officers on the field. And these registration officers, they have login details to log into the system.

“So what we have found is that some of these registration officers, not all of them now, some of them across the states nationwide, they’ve done different things to bring these irregularities onto the register,” he said.
