No One Is Safe: Kenya Met Issues Yellow Warning, Urges Residents in Several Areas to Prepare
The Kenya Meteorological Department has issued a five-day weather forecast warning residents in several counties to prepare for rainfall between Friday, October 30, and Tuesday, November 3, 2026.
The forecast indicates that different parts of the country will experience varying weather conditions, including light showers, moderate rainfall and thunderstorms. Some areas will also experience sunny intervals, while temperatures are expected to vary significantly between regions.
According to the latest forecast, residents in coastal counties, including Mombasa, Kilifi, Kwale and Lamu, should expect intermittent rainfall during the five-day period.
In western Kenya, counties such as Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma and Busia are expected to experience showers, with some areas facing afternoon thunderstorms accompanied by lightning.
The Rift Valley region is also expected to receive rainfall. Nakuru, Narok, Kericho, Bomet and Nandi are among the counties likely to experience moderate showers and thunderstorms on several afternoons.
Central Kenya will not be spared, with Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Embu, Meru and Nyandarua expected to experience varying rainfall patterns. Residents in these areas should remain alert to changing weather conditions when planning their daily activities.
Nairobi and its surrounding areas are also expected to experience occasional showers during the forecast period.
However, the weather outlook shows that some parts of northern Kenya will continue experiencing relatively high temperatures. Turkana is expected to record daytime temperatures of up to 37°C, while some highland areas could experience nighttime temperatures falling to around 11°C.
The department’s forecast comes as Kenyans continue monitoring changing weather patterns across the country.
Residents have been encouraged to follow daily weather updates and take precautions when travelling or engaging in outdoor activities, particularly in areas expecting thunderstorms.
Motorists should exercise caution on wet roads, while residents in areas prone to flooding should remain alert to changing conditions.
The five-day forecast provides an overview of expected conditions, although rainfall intensity and timing may vary between locations.
