PSL BOMBSHELL: 10-Goal Machine Ngwenya Set For Shock Exit?

AmaZulu FC striker Thandolwenkosi Ngwenya has emerged as one of the most talked-about talents in South African football following an incredible start to the 2026/27 Betway Premiership season. The 23-year-old Zimbabwean international has spearheaded his team’s attack with remarkable consistency, establishing himself as a frontrunner in the race for the league’s Golden Boot award.

Ngwenya’s prolific form has seen him net 10 goals in his first 10 appearances, a remarkable strike rate that has elevated AmaZulu’s domestic campaign and inevitably drawn sharp interest from rival clubs. However, despite growing speculation surrounding a potential transfer, the player’s representative, Gibson Mahachi, has called for calm, stating that there is no rush to make decisions regarding the forward’s immediate future.

Acknowledging that several teams have reached out with inquiries, Mahachi explained that such attention is a natural byproduct of high-level performances. Nevertheless, the agent emphasized that the primary focus remains on Ngwenya’s ongoing development and his commitment to helping Usuthu achieve their season goals. Mahachi credited the young striker’s disciplined work ethic and humble background for keeping him grounded during a period of rapid career growth and heightened media spotlight.

Inside the stadium, Ngwenya is already feeling the side effects of his success. Opposition managers and defenders have begun adjusting their tactical setups specifically to neutralize his threat, forcing the forward to adapt his movements and find new ways to unlock tight defenses. Ngwenya recently acknowledged this shift, viewing the extra attention as a challenge that will ultimate help him mature into a more complete attacker.

For AmaZulu, retaining their key goalscorer is vital. The club appears reluctant to entertain mid-season offers, recognizing that Ngwenya’s goals are central to their competitive ambitions. While his continued success could eventually lead to a major career step, both player and management remain aligned on keeping their focus strictly on the pitch for the foreseeable future.
