SASSA Releases Early Payment Notice for All Grant Beneficiaries
SASSA December 2026 Grant Payment Dates and Amounts: What Beneficiaries Need to Know
The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has released its 2026/2027 payment schedule, indicating that social grants for December 2026 will be paid according to the usual category-based timetable. Older Persons Grants are scheduled for 2 December, Disability Grants for 3 December, and Children’s Grants for 4 December. These dates are listed on the Department of Social Development’s official website. However, Social Relief of Distress (SRD) payments follow a separate schedule.
According to the published timetable, Older Persons Grant beneficiaries are expected to receive their payments on Wednesday, 2 December. Disability Grant payments are scheduled for Thursday, 3 December, while Children’s Grants are due on Friday, 4 December.
SRD beneficiaries should visit the official SRD website to check their individual payment dates. Grant recipients are also reminded that they do not have to withdraw their money immediately after it becomes available.
SASSA Grant Amounts and Eligibility Requirements
The monthly grant amounts vary depending on the type of assistance and the applicant’s eligibility.
– Older Persons Grant: Eligible beneficiaries aged 60 to 74 receive R2,400 per month, while those aged 75 and above qualify for R2,420. Applicants must satisfy residency conditions and pass the relevant means test.
– Disability Grant: Eligible adults aged 18 to 59 may receive up to R2,400 monthly if their disability prevents them from working. Approval depends on a medical assessment and meeting the financial eligibility criteria.
– Care Dependency Grant: Qualifying caregivers receive R2,400 monthly for children with severe disabilities who require permanent care.
– War Veterans Grant: Eligible veterans can receive R2,420 per month, provided they meet the required military service, age and financial conditions.
– Foster Child Grant: Caregivers receive R1,300 monthly for each eligible child placed in their care through a court order.
– Child Support Grant: Eligible caregivers receive R580 per child each month, subject to the applicable requirements.
– Grant-in-Aid: This grant provides R580 monthly to qualifying recipients of the Older Persons, Disability or War Veterans Grant who require regular assistance with everyday activities.
– Social Relief of Distress (SRD) Grant: Eligible applicants aged 18 to 59 can receive R370 per month if they meet the income threshold and other qualifying conditions.
All the amounts listed are monthly payment rates. SASSA considers each application individually, and applicants must meet the specific requirements of the grant they are applying for. Beneficiaries can consult the government’s official social grants guide for more information about eligibility.
Grant recipients should ensure that their contact information and banking details are accurate and up to date. They should also use SASSA’s official communication channels to check payment information and application status.
Beneficiaries must remain alert to scams. SASSA applications are free, and no one should pay a fee or disclose their banking PIN in response to suspicious messages or requests.
Anyone who has not received an expected payment or needs clarification about a grant review should contact SASSA directly or visit a nearby office with their identification and any relevant supporting documents.
It is important to remember that appearing on the payment schedule does not automatically guarantee payment. Beneficiaries must continue to meet the applicable eligibility conditions for their grants to be approved and paid.
