Reactions Trail Onanuga’s Video of Tinubu’s Departure for Makkah

Several reactions have trailed a video shared by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy, showing the President’s departure for Makkah, Saudi Arabia.

On Thursday, October 29, 2026, Onanuga shared the video on his official X account with the caption: “Departure ceremony for President Tinubu as he goes to Makkah for prayers.”

The video followed an announcement by the Presidency that Tinubu would travel to Makkah to perform Umrah, an Islamic religious exercise involving a pilgrimage to the holy city.

According to the Presidency, the President would use the visit for spiritual reflection and prayers for Nigeria’s peace, unity, stability and continued progress.

Before leaving Abuja, Tinubu was also scheduled to commission equipment acquired by the Nigerian Air Force at the Presidential Wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport.

The Presidency stated that the President was expected to return to Nigeria the following week after completing the religious exercise.
