Kaizer Chiefs Reveal Important Update on Upcoming AmaZulu Match
Kaizer Chiefs have officially announced that their upcoming Betway Premiership clash against AmaZulu will no longer take place on its originally scheduled date due to South Africaβs upcoming local government elections.
The Amakhosi were set to host AmaZulu on Wednesday, 4 November 2026. However, the club confirmed on Tuesday that the match had been postponed following a decision affecting all Premier Soccer League (PSL) fixtures scheduled for that day.
The postponement is linked to the local government elections taking place across South Africa. Since election day has been declared a public holiday, the PSL has opted to postpone the entire midweek programme.
For Kaizer Chiefs supporters, the announcement means they will have to wait a little longer to watch their team take on AmaZulu in the league. However, the fixture has not been cancelled, and a new date is expected to be announced once the PSL finalises the revised schedule.
In an official statement, the club assured its supporters that they would be informed as soon as the new arrangements were confirmed.
βThe Premier Soccer League will communicate the rescheduled dates for these fixtures, and the club will share the confirmed details with the Amakhosi Faithful as soon as they are available,β the club stated.
The adjustment is not limited to Kaizer Chiefs, as six other Betway Premiership matches scheduled for 4 November have also been postponed.
These fixtures include Siwelele versus Orlando Pirates, Chippa United against Sekhukhune United, Golden Arrows versus Marumo Gallants, Polokwane City against Kruger United, Richards Bay versus Stellenbosch FC, and TS Galaxy against Durban City.
With the AmaZulu encounter now delayed, the Chiefs technical team will need to adjust its preparations while waiting for confirmation of the new match date.
The extra time could provide the coaching staff with an opportunity to work on tactical plans, assess the players’ fitness and prepare the squad for the challenges ahead. However, fitting postponed fixtures into an already demanding league calendar could also present scheduling challenges.
For the Amakhosi faithful, attention will now turn to the PSL’s next announcement. Supporters are encouraged to wait for official confirmation rather than rely on unverified dates circulating on social media.
Kaizer Chiefs remain focused on their Betway Premiership campaign, with every match presenting an opportunity to collect important points and improve their position on the league table.
Although the reason for the postponement has now been clarified, one key detail remains outstanding: the date on which Chiefs and AmaZulu will finally meet.
For now, the fixture scheduled for 4 November has been postponed, with the revised date still to be confirmed by the PSL.
The development highlights how major national events can affect South African football, forcing clubs, players and supporters to adjust their plans as the season continues.
