Five Suspects Arrested After Armed Robbery of E-Hailing Driver in Eldorado Park

Police have arrested five suspects aged between 15 and 21 in connection with the alleged armed robbery of a 20-year-old e-hailing driver in Eldorado Park Extension 7, south of Johannesburg.

The incident reportedly occurred on Tuesday, 27 October 2026, at approximately 11:00 on Maine Street. According to the police account, the driver was operating a white Toyota Etios when he received a ride request from a female passenger.

The woman allegedly entered the front passenger seat and asked the driver to wait for her brothers. Two male suspects subsequently joined them in the vehicle.

One of the suspects allegedly engaged the handbrake before the group robbed the driver of an undisclosed amount of cash, his driver’s licence, identity document and bank cards.

During the incident, another suspect who was standing outside the vehicle reportedly fired a shot and demanded the driver’s cellphone. The suspects allegedly fled without taking the phone.

Following the incident, Eldorado Park Crime Intelligence, detectives and Visible Policing members worked together to investigate the case.

Police subsequently arrested five suspects after receiving operational information.

The suspects are expected to appear in court soon on charges relating to armed robbery and firearm offences.

The investigation is ongoing, and the suspects remain innocent unless proven guilty in court.
