Breaking: MK Party Member Announced Her Immediate Exit After Duduzane Zuma’s Remarks On Foreigners

A member of the uMkhonto weSizwe Party (MKP), Mabongi Mthembu, has announced her departure from the party and confirmed that she has joined ActionSA, citing concerns about illegal immigration, employment, crime and the future of South Africa.Mthembu’s decision comes after recent remarks by Duduzane Zuma, the son of former president and MK Party leader Jacob Zuma, regarding illegal immigration. According to Mthembu, the speech prompted her to reflect on her political affiliation and reconsider whether the party still aligned with her values and expectations.

In a statement shared on her Facebook page on Sunday, Mthembu explained that her decision followed careful consideration of the issues affecting ordinary South Africans.

She said she wanted to associate herself with a political party that takes seriously the concerns citizens have raised about illegal immigration, unemployment, crime and the country’s future.

“As a South African, I want a party that takes seriously the concerns that people are raising about illegal immigration, jobs, crime and the future of our country,” Mthembu said.

She acknowledged that leaving the MK Party was not an easy decision, offering an apology to MKP supporters while making it clear that she had chosen to move on politically.

“With a heavy heart, I apologise to MKP supporters, but I have decided that MKP is no longer my political choice,” she said.

Mthembu confirmed that she had officially joined ActionSA, the political party led by Herman Mashaba, explaining that the move reflected her desire to support a political organisation whose priorities align with her personal values.

She further stressed that her loyalty remained with South Africa and its people, adding that she wanted her political choices and eventual vote to reflect the concerns she believes ordinary citizens are raising across the country.

“My loyalty is to South Africa and its people,” she stated.

According to Mthembu, her decision was driven by the need to stand by a political choice that reflects her hopes and expectations for the country.

Her announcement has brought renewed attention to the debate surrounding illegal immigration and how political parties address public concerns about border management, employment opportunities, crime and national security.

Duduzane Zuma’s remarks have become a point of discussion in Mthembu’s explanation of why she reconsidered her political allegiance. However, her announcement does not, on its own, establish that other MK Party members are planning to leave the organisation.

ActionSA has consistently placed immigration enforcement among its political priorities, while the MK Party continues to participate in South Africa’s broader political debate on governance and national issues.

Mthembu’s announcement highlights how statements by political figures can influence individual supporters as they assess whether a party continues to represent their interests.

It remains unclear whether her departure will be followed by similar announcements from other MK Party supporters.

For now, Mthembu has made her position clear: she has ended her association with the MK Party and chosen to join ActionSA, saying her decision reflects her commitment to South Africa and the issues she believes matter most to its people.
