Kwame A-Plus Reacts After NPP Heads to Supreme Court Over Presidential Term Limit
Member of Parliament for Gomoa Central, Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as Kwame A-Plus, has reacted to the decision of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to go to the Supreme Court over the interpretation of the presidential term limit.
He shared his views in a post on his official Facebook page on Wednesday, October 28, 2026.
The post followed news that the NPP is heading to the Supreme Court. Among the reliefs it seeks, the party wants the court to declare that a person may serve a maximum of two presidential terms, whether consecutive or non-consecutive. (theheraldghana)
The matter relates to Article 66(2) of the 1992 Constitution. Three separate suits are already pending before the court, seeking an interpretation of the article. If the court accepts that the limit covers only consecutive terms, President John Dramani Mahama could in theory contest again in 2028. However, Mahama has repeatedly said he has no intention of seeking a third term. (Gabby: Term Limit Suits Could Reset Endlessly +2)
In his post, Kwame A-Plus said the court is sitting at “it’s somewhere.” He stressed that the court did not call the NPP. According to him, the party took its matter there on its own.
He then warned the party about the outcome. He said that if the case does not go the NPP’s way, it should not blame President Mahama. He ended his post with the expression “Yooooh!”
His comment is a direct response to the NPP’s move. It suggests that the party must accept whatever decision the court makes.
The issue has drawn strong views from both sides. Some NPP members have urged the court to dismiss the suits and uphold the two-term limit. Others say a different reading could create a loophole for former presidents.
For now, Ghanaians are waiting to see how the Supreme Court will handle the matter. The post by Kwame A-Plus has added to the growing public debate on the issue.
