The actor’s response has sparked fresh conversations on social media following the ongoing debate surrounding fake designer products and imitation luxury jewellery.

Serwaa Amihere, a GHOne TV presenter and lawyer, recently advised young women against purchasing counterfeit designer bags simply to appear wealthy when they could not afford the original versions.

During her comments, she reportedly referenced the numerous chains Dr Likee wears in his comedy skits as an example of imitation jewellery.

Her remarks triggered reactions from several Ghanaian celebrities, including Afia Schwarzenegger, Efia Odo and Mzbel, who weighed in on the controversy.

Afia Schwarzenegger, in particular, described the reference to Dr Likee’s chains as “so uncalled for,” adding to the online discussion about whether the actor needed to be brought into the conversation.

Amid the growing debate, a video circulating on social media has captured Dr Likee responding to a question about the chains he was wearing.

In the footage, the actor is seen walking along a street ahead of a shoot, dressed in a yellow sleeveless top and several gold-coloured chains layered around his neck. Each chain features a large pendant, creating the flashy look that has become familiar to viewers of his comedy skits.

While walking, a man approached him and asked whether the chains were original.

Rather than getting upset or launching an attack on Serwaa Amihere, Dr Likee laughed off the question and gave a response that has since attracted attention online.

The actor jokingly referred to the jewellery as “Serwaa chains,” apparently playing on the broadcaster’s earlier comments about the chains he wears.

His response turned the discussion into another moment of comedy, with viewers focusing on the humorous way he addressed the controversy.
