“Sitaki Vita” Pastor Kanyari Responds After Daughter Sky’s Tearful Appeal to Ruto Goes Viral

Pastor Victor Kanyari has reacted after his daughter Sky appealed to President William Ruto to intervene in the ongoing family dispute following a court ruling that granted him custody of his two children with the late gospel singer Betty Bayo.

The matter has attracted attention on social media, with many Kenyans expressing concern about the children’s welfare following the death of their mother in November 2025.

On Tuesday, October 27, the court ruled that Sky and her younger brother Danny should live with their biological father rather than their stepfather, Hiram Gitau, popularly known as Tash, who had been taking care of them.

The decision has proved difficult for Sky, who has publicly expressed her wish to remain with Tash.

In a Facebook livestream, the teenager appealed directly to President Ruto, asking him to help her and her younger brother remain in the home where they had been living.

Sky also spoke about Danny’s emotional state, saying it was painful to watch him cry over the situation. Her appeal sparked discussions among social media users, with some calling for the children’s feelings to be considered as the family navigates the custody dispute.

The teenager further alleged that her previous stay at Kanyari’s home had been uncomfortable. She claimed that her phone, clothes and makeup were taken away and that she was restricted from communicating with Tash.

Her statements have added another dimension to the dispute, which has continued to unfold publicly since Betty Bayo’s death.

On Wednesday, October 28, media personality MC Chris contacted Kanyari during a TikTok livestream to ask about the court ruling and his daughter’s appeal.

However, the preacher appeared unwilling to discuss the matter at length during the live broadcast. He indicated that he would provide information about the court decision and suggested that they speak privately.

Kanyari did not directly address Sky’s concerns or explain how he intended to handle her reluctance to move to his home.

Meanwhile, Tash has also spoken publicly about the ruling, expressing his difficulty accepting the outcome.

The dispute has left many Kenyans debating the balance between court decisions, parental rights and children’s emotional needs. With Sky and Danny still coping with the loss of their mother, many observers hope the adults involved will prioritise their wellbeing as the family adjusts to the new arrangements.
