Randfontein line dancers qualify for American Dance Awards in Boston

Two dancers of the Achy Breaky Line Dancers team from Randfontein are preparing to take their talents to the international stage after securing a place in the next round of the American Dance Awards in Boston, United States.

The achievement marks an exciting opportunity for Christell van Wyk and Elize Vos to represent their team and South Africa among talented performers from around the world. However, the two now need financial support to turn their international dream into reality.

Christell said the opportunity was significant not only for them, but also for the broader community as they prepare to represent their town and country on an international stage.

The dancers have worked tirelessly to reach this milestone, demonstrating dedication, passion and commitment to their craft.

The competition is scheduled to take place from June 30 to July 12, 2027, and they are appealing to businesses, residents and potential sponsors to help cover the costs associated with participating in the event.

ā€œWe desperately need sponsors,ā€ she said, adding that the required payments, mounting to about R80 000 per person, must be made before the end of March next year.

Funding will help cover travel, accommodation, competition fees and other related expenses, with Christell emphasising that every contribution, regardless of its size, would make a difference in helping them reach Boston.

ā€œTogether, let’s help put Randfontein on the world map and proudly fly the South African flag in Boston, USA.ā€

The group is calling on the community and potential sponsors from across South Africa and beyond to support its journey and help the dancers seize this international opportunity.

Anyone interested in sponsoring or donating towards the team’s expenses can contact Christelle on 074 117 7645.
