The decision was among the resolutions reached during a conciliation meeting between the Federal Government and the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) at the Ministry of Labour and Employment.
The meeting also agreed that the Minimum Wage Negotiation Committee should be constituted and begin work immediately.
Under the resolutions, the government will pay outstanding peculiar allowances in three equal monthly instalments starting in November 2026.
In addition, 19 months of outstanding allowances owed to health workers are to be settled within three months, beginning in December 2026.
The meeting also addressed workers’ demands for tax relief. However, both parties agreed that the issue should be presented to the National Economic Council (NEC) for consideration.
The approved measures are aimed at providing financial relief to Nigerian workers amid rising transportation costs and other economic pressures.
