I’ll Curse Whoever Objects — Toluwanisings’ Grandmum Rejects Cemetery, Insists He be Buried at Home
According to a report by The Cable on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, the paternal grandmother of late Nigerian gospel singer Olayemi Bolaji, popularly known as Toluwanisings, has insisted that the musician must be buried at his residence in Ibadan, Oyo State, warning that she would curse anyone who opposes her demand.
The grandmother’s position has reportedly introduced another point of disagreement within the singer’s family following his death on October 14. Reports indicate that his wife, Elizabeth, prefers that he be laid to rest in a cemetery.
Speaking during an interview with media personality Dunmininu, the elderly woman expressed her opposition to a cemetery burial, insisting that her grandson should be buried at his home rather than at the place where his mother was laid to rest.
“I don’t want him to be buried in a cemetery or where his mother was buried. I want him to be buried at his house in Ibadan. I will curse whoever goes against that,” she said.
Her remarks have drawn attention to the emerging disagreement over the arrangements for the late singer’s burial, with members of his family reportedly expressing different positions on where he should be laid to rest.
During the interview, Toluwanisings’ grandmother also spoke about her relationship with the singer before his death, revealing that they had not seen each other for more than five years.
According to her, she was unaware of his music career and did not know that he had built a house before his death.
She explained that she only recently discovered that her grandson was a gospel singer, adding that their communication had become limited over the years.
“I didn’t know he was a singer; I only found out recently. I wasn’t aware that he had built a house either. I couldn’t reach him, and I last saw him over five years ago, before he eventually died, when he came to my house with his wife,” she said.
The grandmother further recounted how she eventually managed to speak with the singer after asking a woman to help her contact him.
According to her account, Toluwanisings apologised for not visiting her regularly, explaining that his busy work schedule had kept him away.
She said the singer subsequently sent her N10,000 on three occasions but later stopped providing the financial assistance.
“At some point, I asked a lady here to help me call him. When I eventually spoke to him, he apologised for not visiting me, saying it was because of his busy work schedule. After that, he sent me N10,000 three times, but he later stopped giving me any allowance,” she said.
She also disclosed that she once wanted to contact him because she needed a phone but was discouraged from doing so by one of his siblings.
The grandmother said she had not spoken to the singer since that incident.
The disagreement over Toluwanisings’ burial arrangements comes amid calls from another member of his family for further inquiries into the circumstances surrounding his death.
Earlier, the singer’s paternal uncle reportedly called for the postponement of the burial pending an investigation into the cause of death.
The request raised questions about the family’s preferred next steps before the gospel musician is laid to rest.
However, the available account of the grandmother’s interview does not establish whether the family has reached a final agreement on the burial location or whether the proposed arrangements have been officially changed.
Toluwanisings’ death on October 14 has prompted attention from fans and members of the gospel music community, while the reported differences among his relatives have brought the circumstances surrounding his final rites into focus.
