Ruto Flies Out as Details of Trip Emerge
President William Ruto has departed Kenya for Moscow, Russia, where he is expected to attend the Third Russia-Africa Economic and Humanitarian Forum.
The President left the country on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, according to an announcement from State House. His visit is expected to focus on expanding Kenya’s export markets, attracting foreign investment and strengthening economic ties with Russia and other African countries.
The trip comes days after Ruto travelled to Harare, Zimbabwe, for the 25th Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) Heads of State and Government Summit, held on October 22.
During his visit to Russia, Ruto is expected to promote Kenyan products, including tea, coffee, flowers and fresh produce, as the government looks for more international markets for local businesses.
The discussions are also expected to cover investment opportunities, technology transfer, digital innovation and agricultural cooperation. Kenya hopes such partnerships will support economic growth and create jobs for its citizens.
According to reports on the visit, the President will also participate in business engagements aimed at encouraging investors to explore opportunities in Kenya and establish partnerships with local industries.
The Russia-Africa Forum brings together leaders and representatives from Russia and African countries to discuss trade, investment and cooperation on shared economic and security concerns.
Ruto’s visit comes at a time when the government is seeking to strengthen international partnerships and increase the value of Kenyan exports. Access to additional markets could provide opportunities for farmers, manufacturers and businesses looking to sell their products beyond the country.
However, the results of the visit will depend on the agreements reached and whether the discussions lead to practical business opportunities.
The President’s latest trip is therefore expected to draw attention as Kenyans follow the government’s efforts to attract investment and improve trade relations.
