“Mtateseka Sana,” Governor Anne Waiguru Warns Mt Kenya Residents Against Dumping Ruto Government
Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru has issued a stern warning to the people of Mt Kenya region regarding their political stand ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Speaking during an address on 26th October 2026, Governor Waiguru cautioned residents against the growing calls for the region to walk out of the current government led by President William Ruto.
The vocal Mt Kenya leader stated clearly:”I am warning the people of Mt Kenya. If you walk out of the current government, You will suffer You will not be punishing William Ruto.”
Governor Waiguru explained that walking out of government will not hurt the President, but will instead hurt the ordinary mwananchi. She said the region will lose out on development projects, government appointments, and national resources.
According to Waiguru, those encouraging Mt Kenya residents to abandon the Kenya Kwanza government are misleading them for their own political gain. She urged the mountain to remain united and inside government for the sake of its future.
Her remarks come at a time when Mt Kenya is politically divided. One faction is pushing for the region to leave government and form its own political path, while another faction led by leaders like Waiguru insists that staying in government is the only way to secure development.
Waiguru reminded residents that being in opposition has consequences. She said President Ruto will continue to lead the country with or without Mt Kenya support, but the region will be the one to suffer the effects of being outside power.
The statement has triggered heated debate across the country. Supporters of Waiguru say she is telling the truth and that regions outside government always struggle to get development.
Critics, however, have accused her of using scare tactics. They argue that government services are a right for all Kenyans and not a reward for political loyalty.
What is your opinion? Should Mt Kenya stay in government or walk out?
