Gladys Wanga Reveals What Could Tear Kenya Apart as She Defends Broad-Based Government

Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga has defended the broad-based government arrangement, insisting that it remains firm despite emerging political engagements that she claims could divide Kenyans along tribal lines.

In a statement shared on her official X account, Wanga maintained that the arrangement was founded on the late Raila Odinga’s vision of equitable development, national inclusion and equal opportunities for all communities.

She argued that every Kenyan should benefit from government development programmes regardless of their ethnic background or voting choices.

“ODM and the broad-based government remain firm, unshaken by emerging political engagements involving people whose dreams are to divide Kenyan on tribal lines,” Wanga stated.

The governor contrasted Raila’s political legacy with what she described as divisive politics, saying the former ODM leader worked to unite communities rather than create ethnic divisions.

“Baba united Kenya through inclusion; divisive politics seeks to pull it apart,” she said.

Wanga further maintained that tribalism and exclusion threatened the national unity that Raila championed throughout his political career.
