Osimhen joins Sneijder in rare Galatasaray feat after brace against Fenerbahce

According to a report by Daily Post on Monday October 26, 2026, Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has joined former Galatasaray star Wesley Sneijder in a rare scoring record after his brace helped the Turkish champions defeat Fenerbahce 2-1 in the Istanbul derby on Monday night.

The Nigerian international scored twice in the first half at Rams Park to secure all three points for Galatasaray against their arch-rivals.

Osimhen opened the scoring after connecting with a precise pass from Barış Yılmaz before firing the ball into the bottom corner.

The former Napoli striker doubled Galatasaray’s advantage towards the end of the first half, heading home a cross from defender Davinson Sánchez.

Fenerbahce fought back in the second half, with İrfan Kahveci reducing the deficit through an acrobatic scissor kick.

However, Galatasaray held on to secure the 2-1 victory and claim bragging rights in the fiercely contested Istanbul derby.

According to Opta Can, Osimhen became only the second Galatasaray player to score against a Fenerbahce side managed by İsmail Kartal in the Turkish Süper Lig.

Sneijder achieved the feat in October 2014 when he scored twice against Fenerbahce, and Osimhen has now joined the former Netherlands international in the exclusive record.

The brace also took Osimhen’s tally for the current campaign to nine goals and three assists in nine appearances across all competitions.

The Super Eagles forward will now be looking to maintain his impressive form as Galatasaray continue their campaign, with his goals proving crucial to the club’s ambitions this season.
