De Zerbi praises Kudus and Tel after Tottenham’s win over Chelsea
Tottenham Hotspur coach Roberto De Zerbi has praised Ghana forward Mohammed Kudus and French attacker Mathys Tel for their influential performances in Saturday’s 2-0 Premier League victory over Chelsea.
Spurs ended their long wait for a league win away to Chelsea with an impressive display at Stamford Bridge, with Kudus and Tel playing key roles in the result.
Chelsea goalkeeper Mike Penders turned a Mateus Fernandes corner into his own net to give Tottenham the lead before Tel sealed the victory with a superb solo goal late in the match.
De Zerbi credited the two wingers for making the difference as Tottenham secured all three points.
“I think we won the game with two wingers, Kudus and Mathys; they made the difference,” he said.
Kudus provided a constant outlet on the right flank, using his dribbling ability and forward runs to stretch Chelsea’s defence and help Tottenham move the ball into attacking areas.
On the opposite wing, Tel offered pace, direct running and attacking energy before producing the decisive moment of quality to put the result beyond doubt.
The Frenchman collected the ball inside his own half, drove towards Chelsea’s penalty area and created space for himself before firing a low shot into the corner of the net.
The victory will provide a boost for Tottenham as they look to build momentum under De Zerbi, with the performances of Kudus and Tel offering encouragement for the matches ahead.
Kudus, who has been working his way back following an injury, will be eager to maintain his impressive form when Tottenham host Crystal Palace on Saturday.
