Akwa Ibom flags off FarmerMoni enumeration, trains desk officers
Spread the word The Akwa Ibom state government has flagged off the enumeration of FarmerMoni beneficiaries and training of Local Government Desk Officers to facilitate access to financial support for vulnerable smallholder farmers and strengthen agricultural productivity.
The exercise held Monday at the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Uyo, is being implemented under the Federal Government’s Government Enterprise and Empowerment Programme (GEEP) through the National Social Investment Programme Agency (NSIPA).
Speaking at the event, the Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs, Princess Emem Ibanga, said the initiative would help farmers overcome financial constraints, improve agricultural output and contribute to food security.
She observed that many smallholder farmers continued to face difficulties accessing affordable financing, quality agricultural inputs and other essential support needed to expand their farms and improve their livelihoods.
Ibanga identified women farmers, young people, persons with disabilities and farmers in remote communities as priority groups requiring inclusive access to government interventions.
She said the programme aligned with Governor Umo Eno’s ARISE agenda, particularly its focus on food security, agricultural development and strengthening agricultural value chains.
