Sam George: MultiChoice Service Prices Cut from GH¢850 to GH¢250, Savings of About GH¢600 per Family

The Minister for Communications, Sam George, has disclosed that families who used to pay between GH¢850 and GH¢875 for MultiChoice services will now pay GH¢250 under the new arrangement. He said this represents savings of approximately GH¢600 per family, amounting to a reduction of more than 60% in what they previously paid.

The figures frame the change as one of the most substantial price reductions in Ghana’s pay-TV market. For households that had been paying the higher amount, the shift to GH¢250 frees up a significant portion of monthly budgets. The minister’s emphasis on family savings positions the reduction as a direct cost-of-living benefit rather than merely a commercial adjustment.

The announcement follows a joint press conference with MultiChoice and complements the new package structure unveiled by Alex Okyere, Managing Director of MultiChoice Ghana. The Starter Package is priced at GH¢50, the Select Package at GH¢100, and the Sports Package at GH¢250, with the new prices taking effect on November 5, 2026.
