Sheikh Bala Lau Calls for Arrest of JIBWIS Official Over Viral Video Threatening Attack on Enugu
The National Chairman of Jama’atu Izalatil Bid’ah Wa Iqamatis Sunnah (JIBWIS), Sheikh Abdullahi Bala Lau, has condemned a viral video allegedly showing a man in the organisation’s uniform making threats of an attack on Enugu.
According to a media post by JIBWIS Nigeria on Monday, October 26, 2026, the man was reportedly seen during a jogging exercise calling for AK-47 rifles to enable them to travel to Enugu and carry out an attack on Sunday.
Sheikh Bala Lau called on the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies to investigate the incident, identify those involved and ensure that anyone found culpable faces the law.
He firmly distanced JIBWIS from the alleged statements, stressing that violence, intimidation and threats against any community contradict the organisation’s principles and objectives.
The chairman also clarified that wearing the JIBWIS uniform does not automatically mean that an individual is acting on behalf of the organisation or with its approval.
He urged security agencies to establish the identity, affiliation and motives of those involved.
Sheikh Bala Lau further recalled JIBWIS’s efforts to promote interfaith dialogue, religious tolerance, education and humanitarian services, emphasising that the organisation remains committed to peaceful coexistence among Nigerians of different religious and ethnic backgrounds.
