Kalonzo And Dcp SG John Methu Reveal What Was Discussed In Wamunyoro Meeting Today
The much anticipated Wamunyoro meeting between Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka and Democracy for Citizens Party DCP Leader Rigathi Gachagua happened today.
Speaking after the meeting, both sides have revealed what was discussed.Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka in a statement on his official Facebook page said the meeting was about unity.
He wrote, “We are relentless in our pursuit of unity.” The statement was accompanied by photos from the Wamunyoro home showing Kalonzo, Gachagua and other GEMA leaders in a round table discussion.
On his part, DCP Secretary General John Methu revealed more details of what was agreed in Wamunyoro.
Methu said Kalonzo and Gachagua have made a commitment that they will agree on one single candidate to face President William Ruto head-on in the 2027 general election.
Methu said, “Kalonzo and Gachagua have made a commitment that they will agree on one single candidate to take Mr William Ruto head-on because people of Kenya have made a commitment that Ruto cannot stay a day longer in office.”
He added that the meeting between Wiper and DCP will continue to happen because Kalonzo and Gachagua are cousins. He described the Wamunyoro meeting as a normal family routine meeting.
The Wamunyoro meeting comes just hours after President William Ruto reminded Kalonzo of their history in 1992. Ruto said, “In 1992, I came to Mwingi to campaign for Kalonzo under the KANU party, and he won. Now, he should remember me next year and return the favour.”
The opposition is now pushing for a united front ahead of 2027, with Gachagua hosting several leaders at his Wamunyoro home in Nyeri.
