Tears At Sundowns: Crucial Midfield Maestro Set to Shock Millions of Fans With Sudden Exit

Marcelo Allende’s Future at Mamelodi Sundowns in Doubt as Contract Expiry Approaches

Mamelodi Sundowns could face a significant challenge in retaining Chilean midfielder Marcelo Allende, whose future at Chloorkop remains uncertain as questions emerge over his contract situation and possible interest from clubs outside South Africa.

The 27-year-old midfielder joined the Brazilians in 2022 from Uruguayan side Montevideo City Torque and has since established himself as a valuable member of the squad. His technical ability, creativity and composure on the ball have made him an important option for the technical team.

Allende’s contract is reportedly set to expire at the end of the 2026/27 season. However, with no publicly confirmed agreement on an extension, speculation continues about whether the midfielder will commit his future to the Tshwane giants or consider a new challenge elsewhere.

Reports have suggested that his representatives could explore opportunities outside South Africa if negotiations over a new deal fail to produce an agreement. Nevertheless, there has been no official confirmation that Allende has decided to leave Sundowns.

During his time at Chloorkop, the Chilean has contributed to the club’s domestic success and its achievements on the continental stage. His ability to link defence with attack and control the tempo of matches has added value to Sundowns’ midfield options.

The uncertainty surrounding his future comes as the club continues to pursue success in the Betway Premiership and CAF competitions. Any potential departure would require the technical team to consider how best to maintain the quality and depth of its midfield.

Despite the speculation, Allende has previously expressed happiness at Sundowns. When asked about his future in September, he reportedly avoided making a definitive commitment, choosing instead to focus on his performances and the challenges ahead.

His response leaves open the possibility of a contract extension or a move abroad should an agreement not be reached.

For now, Sundowns supporters will be watching developments closely. Although his departure remains unconfirmed, the coming months could prove crucial in determining whether Allende continues his career at Chloorkop or begins a new chapter elsewhere.
