I Watched Tinubu Yesterday And My 8yr Old Son Who Was Beside Me Said, What’s This Man Saying?–Shaibu
According to a report by Vanguard on Sunday, October 25, 2026, Phrank Shaibu, the Director of Strategic Communication of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) Presidential Campaign Council, has accused President Bola Tinubu of being disconnected from the realities of Nigerians, particularly the economic difficulties and hunger affecting citizens across the country.
Shaibu made the remarks during an interview on ARISE News on Sunday, where he criticised the president’s handling of the country’s hunger crisis.
He questioned Tinubu’s decision to blame the opposition for the situation despite having spent three and a half years in office.
The ADC campaign spokesman argued that the president should accept responsibility for the economic conditions Nigerians are experiencing under his administration rather than attributing the widespread hardship to political opponents.
He maintained that the government must acknowledge the challenges confronting citizens.
Shaibu described Tinubu’s explanation of the hunger situation as a sign that the president had lost touch with the realities on the ground.
He expressed dissatisfaction with the president’s comments, insisting that the administration had been in power long enough to be held accountable for the country’s economic challenges.
During the interview, Shaibu recounted his reaction to Tinubu’s recent remarks, explaining that the president’s comments had also attracted questions from his eight-year-old son, who was beside him while he watched the president speak.
He used the experience to emphasise his criticism of the president’s explanation.
According to Shaibu, blaming the opposition for hunger after three and a half years in office raises concerns about the administration’s understanding of the difficulties faced by ordinary Nigerians.
His criticism centred on the president’s response to the crisis and his decision to associate the problem with opposition activities.
“I watched him yesterday and my eight-year-old son who was beside me said, what’s this man talking about? He has been in office for three and a half years. And he’s talking about hunger being created by the opposition. I think it is delusional,” he said.
