The Heartbreaking Downfall of Kgotso Moleko That Left Fans in Tears

Former Kaizer Chiefs defender Kgotso Moleko has opened up about the circumstances surrounding his transfer to Lesotho Premier League club Lifofane FC, revealing that discussions about the move began several months before he officially joined the team in June 2026.

The experienced right-back moved to the Lesotho outfit after representing Mangaung Unite in South Africa’s ABC Motsepe League. His latest career decision provides an opportunity to continue playing competitive football while bringing his experience to a different environment.

In an interview with FARPost, Moleko explained that Lifofane first contacted him following his debut appearance for Mangaung Unite in December 2025. At that stage, he was still working towards regaining his best physical condition after recovering from an injury that had sidelined him.

The Lesotho club reportedly wanted to sign the defender as early as January 2026. However, Moleko chose to remain with Mangaung Unite because the team was involved in the race for the Free State ABC Motsepe League championship and had ambitions of reaching the national promotional playoffs.

Rather than abandoning his commitments midway through the season, the former Amakhosi player reached an understanding with Lifofane’s management to complete the campaign before making the switch. The club accepted his decision and waited until his responsibilities in South Africa were finished.

Although Mangaung Unite did not achieve promotion, they managed to win the provincial championship and secure qualification for the national playoffs in Mthatha in June 2026.

Lifofane, who finished second in the previous Lesotho Premier League season, brought Moleko on board to reinforce their defensive department and strengthen their prospects of competing for the league title.

The former Kaizer Chiefs player has already delivered an encouraging performance for his new employers. He received the Man of the Match award after Lifofane recorded an impressive 3-0 victory against Villa FC.
