New shopping centre coming to Cape Town with Checkers, Dis-Chem, and major restaurants

Cape Town is set to welcome a new shopping destination featuring major retailers, restaurants and everyday convenience stores, as property developers continue investing in the city’s retail sector.

One of the latest developments is Pinelands Village, a new neighbourhood shopping centre in Pinelands that will bring together Checkers, Dis-Chem and several well-known restaurant brands. The development is planned to accommodate 26 shops and restaurants, with an opening targeted for the fourth quarter of 2026.

According to the developer, the centre will feature 26 shops and restaurants, providing residents with access to groceries, healthcare products, takeaway meals, coffee shops and other services.

Pinelands Village is not the only major retail project planned for Cape Town. The GrandWest Mall is also under construction within the existing GrandWest entertainment precinct.

The project represents a R650 million investment and will cover 22,000m². It is scheduled to open in June 2027, with Checkers FreshX, Halaal SuperSpar, Dis-Chem and Clicks among its confirmed retailers. Restaurants including Panarottis, Ocean Basket and RocoMamas are also planned.

The development will connect shopping with GrandWest’s existing entertainment attractions, including ten-pin bowling and children’s entertainment facilities.
