MySol Shares Reasons Why Political Party President Julius Malema Is Against Him

South African mining businessman Solomon “MySol” Soka Madibela has claimed that Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) president Julius Malema turned against him after he declined an invitation to attend one of the party’s fundraising gala dinners.

‎Madibela made the allegations during an appearance on Podcast and Chill with MacG, where he discussed his strained relationship with Malema and the ongoing controversy involving businessman Benjy Maponya.

‎According to MySol, his decision to turn down the invitation contributed to the tensions between him and the EFF leader. He alleged that Malema subsequently criticised him publicly during an EFF press conference.

‎“Julius Malema lashed at him in an EFF presser because I rejected an invite for one of their fundraising gala dinner. Now the EFF is using Benjy Maponya to fight me,” Madibela reportedly said.

‎‎He also referred to Malema’s criticism, which included the expression “MySol se voet,” an Afrikaans phrase commonly used to express dismissal or contempt.

‎‎MySol’s remarks come amid growing tensions surrounding his business dispute with Maponya, a former associate with whom he was involved in a mining venture linked to the N4 Cluster operation at Buffels West in North West.

‎‎The disagreement became public after Maponya accused Madibela of sidelining him in their business arrangement. Maponya has made several allegations concerning their partnership, including claims about payments, contractual disagreements and the circumstances surrounding the breakdown of their relationship.

‎Madibela has challenged aspects of Maponya’s account, and the dispute has attracted legal attention.

‎‎Reports indicate that Madibela obtained an urgent interim interdict from the Johannesburg High Court restricting the publication or broadcasting of certain allegations concerning him. The order does not, by itself, constitute a final determination of the underlying business dispute.

‎‎MySol also suggested that his refusal to financially support political parties reflects his desire to protect his business interests from political interference. He has reportedly expressed concern that political contributions could create expectations or expose business dealings to undue influence.

‎His comments have therefore added a political dimension to an already contentious business dispute involving prominent figures in South Africa’s mining and political circles.

‎‎However, MySol’s claim that Malema turned against him because he declined the gala dinner invitation remains an allegation and has not been independently established.

‎‎Neither Malema nor the EFF had publicly responded to the specific claim in the reports reviewed for this article.

‎‎The controversy continues to draw attention as the business dispute between Madibela and Maponya unfolds.
