“You Scammed Kenya Power, Now You Want Kenya Pipeline,” Ruto Warns Over Share Deals

President William Ruto has criticised individuals he accused of seeking to profit from transactions involving state corporations, warning that his administration would protect public assets and taxpayers’ interests.

Speaking during a rally in Mwingi, Kitui County, Ruto questioned share transactions involving Kenya Power and the Kenya Pipeline Company. He argued that public assets should not be used to enrich a select group of investors.

“You scammed Kenya Power, you want to shylock Kenya Pipeline. You bought shares at two shillings and now you want to sell them at 19 shillings. That will not happen, my friend,” Ruto said.

The President maintained that transactions involving public assets should serve the interests of Kenyans rather than individuals seeking private gains. His remarks focused on the pricing of shares and the role of intermediaries in dealings involving state corporations.

During the same rally, Ruto outlined development priorities for the Ukambani region, including road construction, electricity connectivity and water projects.

He also highlighted the proposed High Grand Falls Dam, which is intended to support water supply and irrigation in the region. The project is among the initiatives associated with plans to improve access to water for households, livestock and agricultural activities.

Ruto called for continued development across the country, saying government projects should benefit communities regardless of their political affiliations.
