Ho Central NDC elections produce mixed reactions as Agbe Mawunyor wins chairmanship
Delegates and supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Ho Central Constituency of the Volta Region have expressed mixed reactions following the party’s constituency executive elections, with some appearing disappointed while others celebrated their preferred candidates’ victories.
Adom News observed the contrasting reactions after the polls held at Ola Senior High School on Saturday, October 24, 2026, produced a new set of constituency executives.
Agbe Mawunyor, Presiding Member of the Ho Municipal Assembly and former constituency vice-chairman, emerged as the new constituency chairman following the withdrawal of his contender, Franklin Gedzia, from the race.
In another notable outcome, Senam Setordzi was elected as the constituency’s first female chairperson, marking a milestone for the party in the Volta Region.
Margaret Dzogbewu retained her position as Women’s Organiser, while Noah Dzikpor was re-elected as Youth Organiser. Other candidates were also elected to various executive positions.
Speaking after the Electoral Commission declared the results, Mr Mawunyor thanked delegates for the confidence they had placed in him and the other elected executives.
He pledged to work with the newly elected officers and unsuccessful contestants to strengthen the party’s structures and mobilise support ahead of the 2028 general elections.
He also appealed to aspirants, delegates and supporters to put aside their differences following the contest and unite behind the party’s broader electoral ambitions.
Mr Mawunyor said the cooperation of all stakeholders would be essential to consolidating the NDC’s grassroots support and positioning the party for victory in 2028.
In separate interviews with Adom News correspondent Odehyeba Owusu Job after the results were announced, some newly elected executives also pledged to collaborate with their colleagues and contestants who lost their bids.
They said they were committed to working together to strengthen the party and improve its chances in the next general elections.
The outcome of the Ho Central constituency polls has ushered in a new leadership team, with calls for reconciliation and unity emerging as key messages following the elections.
