The warning will remain in effect from 08:00 until 20:59.

According to SAWS, a deepening surface trough and an upper trough could trigger thunderstorms across the eastern half of the province.

Some storms may become severe in the north-eastern parts, bringing heavy downpours, strong winds and hail that could cause damage.

SAWS has warned that severe thunderstorms could damage homes, property and temporary structures in affected areas.

Heavy rainfall may also flood roads and low-lying bridges, making travel difficult.

Strong winds and hail could damage crops and lead to livestock losses.

The weather service also warned of possible disruptions to electricity and communication services, as well as danger to life.

Residents should avoid crossing flooded roads and bridges and stay indoors during severe thunderstorms.

Motorists should drive carefully during heavy downpours, particularly in areas prone to flooding.

People living in vulnerable structures should take extra precautions.

Farmers should consider moving livestock to safer areas where possible.

Residents are encouraged to follow updates from SAWS as conditions develop throughout Monday.
