‘I want to leave Aso Rock to a Nigeria I can enjoy’ — Remi Tinubu Shares 2031 Hopes

According to a report by Vanguard Nigeria on Saturday, October 24, 2026, First Lady Oluremi Tinubu expressed hope that she would leave Aso Rock in 2031 and return to a Nigeria where she and other citizens could enjoy a better quality of life.

Remi Tinubu made the statement while supporting President Bola Tinubu’s anticipated bid for a second term in office.

She said she looked forward to completing her time in the presidential villa and witnessing the progress of the country after her husband’s tenure.

“I want to leave Aso Rock, in 2031, by the grace of God, and enter a Nigeria that me as a 70-something-year-old woman will enjoy,” she said.

The First Lady’s comment came as President Tinubu and his wife arrived in Kaduna State for the All Progressives Congress campaign flag-off ahead of the 2027 general election.

The President landed at Kaduna International Airport before proceeding to the campaign venue, where he addressed party supporters and urged Nigerians to support continuity, progress and development.

At the rally, Tinubu asked voters to back him and all APC candidates in the forthcoming election.

He presented his administration’s policies as part of an effort to improve the economy and create better opportunities for Nigerians.

The First Lady’s statement reflects her expectation that the country will record meaningful improvements by 2031.

Her remarks also linked the APC’s campaign message to the promise of a more stable and prosperous Nigeria.

The Kaduna event attracted senior APC leaders, governors, ministers, lawmakers and thousands of supporters.

It marked the formal beginning of the party’s nationwide mobilisation for the 2027 presidential election.
