Black Maidens Set For Argentina Showdown in U-17 Women’s World Cup Round Of 16

According to a report by Citi FM on Sunday October 25, 2026, Ghana’s Black Maidens are preparing for a crucial encounter against Argentina in the Round of 16 of the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup after securing second place in Group C.

The Ghanaian youngsters have booked their place in the knockout stage following their performances in the group phase, keeping their hopes of advancing further in the global competition alive.

Their upcoming clash with Argentina presents another important test for the team as they seek to maintain their momentum and progress to the quarter-finals of the tournament.

Finishing second in Group C means the Black Maidens must now turn their attention to the knockout rounds, where every match carries significant consequences.

Unlike the group stage, where teams have opportunities to recover from disappointing results, the Round of 16 requires Ghana to deliver a strong performance to remain in contention for the title.

Argentina will pose a fresh challenge for the Ghanaian side, with both teams expected to approach the fixture determined to secure a place in the last eight.

The encounter is therefore likely to demand discipline, concentration and effective use of scoring opportunities from the Black Maidens.

Ghana will also be hoping that the players can build on the experience gained during the group stage and translate their progress into another positive result.

Maintaining defensive organisation while creating chances in attack could prove crucial to their chances of overcoming the South American opposition.

The Round of 16 fixture represents a significant opportunity for the Black Maidens to demonstrate their quality on the international stage and strengthen Ghana’s presence in the competition.

With a quarter-final place at stake, attention will now shift to preparations for the Argentina encounter as the team looks to continue its campaign at the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.

A victory would move Ghana into the quarter-finals and bring the Black Maidens one step closer to their ultimate ambition of making a deep run in the tournament.
