Senator Oburu Odinga who is the leader of the ODM Party is facing a bitter succession dispute over the vast estate of his father Jaramogi Oginga Odinga. The family feud has spilled into court barely a year after Raila Odinga died with the applicants alleging that key properties were left out of the 1996 succession process and that beneficiaries were sidelined.

The senator who is still recovering from a recent medical scare faces his stepmother, step siblings, and niece in the legal battle. The family members want Oburu to account for three decades of managing the estate. They are demanding full disclosure of rental income, bank accounts, and the ownership of Rongai Farm. The applicants are also seeking to freeze all dealings in a 140 acre property.

The case has exposed deep cracks within the Odinga family and raises questions about the management of the patriarch’s wealth. The court will determine the transparency of the estate’s administration and the future of the contested assets. The ODM leader has not publicly commented on the matter.
