I Hear My Opponents Talking About Hunger And Poverty, Who Created It? They Did- Tinubu
According to a report by Daily Post on Saturday, October 24, 2026, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has accused opposition figures, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, of contributing to the poverty and hunger currently affecting Nigerians.
Tinubu made the allegation on Saturday during the All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign flag-off in Kaduna State ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Addressing party supporters at the event, the President criticised his political opponents for raising concerns about hunger and poverty in the country.
He questioned their sincerity, arguing that they were responsible for the economic difficulties they now highlight in their criticism of his administration.
Tinubu also used the occasion to seek the support of Nigerians for another term in office, promising that his re-election would bring prosperity to the country.
According to the President, his administration remained committed to improving the economic conditions of Nigerians, particularly young people, despite the challenges associated with the ongoing economic reforms.
“I hear my opponents talking about hunger and poverty. Who created it? They did! To you, the children of our country, it’s a promise of a second term – prosperity; you will not regret it,” the President said.
The President’s comments come as the country approaches another election cycle, with political parties and their candidates preparing to present their policies and campaign messages to voters.
