Wiper Patriotic Front party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has formally declared himself President William Ruto’s primary political challenger ahead of the 2027 General Election, citing his extensive four-decade record in public service, anti-corruption stance, and proven capacity to deliver structural governance reforms across Kenya.

​Speaking during a Thanksgiving service at the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Tharaka on Saturday, October 24, 2026, the former Vice President asserted that President Ruto himself has privately and publicly recognized him as his formidable opponent in the upcoming presidential contest.

Kalonzo highlighted his grueling regional and international engagements—spanning recent diplomatic and consultative trips to Machakos, Mombasa, London, Rome, and Bondo—emphasizing that his movement was achieved entirely without relying on state logistics or taxpayer funding as evidence of his fiscal discipline and administrative capacity.

​Positioning his candidature as a direct response to public dissatisfaction over economic management, Kalonzo severely criticized the current administration over state-sponsored corruption, public resource waste, and economic hardship affecting ordinary citizens.

Drawing a parallel to the biblical forty years of wandering in the wilderness, the Wiper leader maintained that his forty years of public experience uniquely position him to lead the nation’s political liberation.

He further accused the Head of State of utilizing official development tours, such as ongoing engagements in the Ukambani region, as political platforms to launch attacks against opposition figures rather than addressing pressing economic priorities.

​Addressing regional infrastructure priorities, Kalonzo pledged that an administration under his leadership would prioritize the stalled High Grand Falls Dam project, guaranteeing fair and prompt compensation to displaced families while unlocking massive agricultural irrigation and water security across the region.

Reaffirming his commitment to the broader opposition framework under the Ukombozi Alliance, Kalonzo insisted that propaganda and political intimidation would not divert his focus from organizing a unified political alternative to reshape Kenya’s governance trajectory.
