Kalonzo Fires Back at Ruto Over Tseikuru Road Remarks, Says God Is Using Him to Send President Home

Wiper Patriotic Front Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka has hit back at President William Ruto following his remarks that God was using the two leaders for different purposes, declaring that his mission was to send the Head of State home through the 2027 General Election.

Kalonzo issued the response after Ruto used a development event in Ukambani to suggest that while he was responsible for implementing projects, the former Vice-President was helping publicise his administration’s achievements.

The exchange has added a fresh dimension to the political rivalry between the two leaders, with Kalonzo turning the President’s comments into an opportunity to reaffirm his determination to push for a change of government in the next election.

In his statement, Kalonzo argued that Ruto had indirectly acknowledged the political competition between them, describing the President’s remarks as an unusually candid admission about their rivalry.

“He says I am his main competitor and that I am overworking to show him up. That is the most honest he has been in four years,” Kalonzo said.

The Wiper leader then delivered a direct response to the President, rejecting the suggestion that his role was simply to help communicate the government’s development record.

“Mr Ruto, God is indeed using me to take you home,” Kalonzo declared, signalling his intention to challenge the President’s leadership in the 2027 General Election.

The exchange followed Ruto’s remarks during the commissioning of the Sh1.7 billion Mwala Cluster Water Supply Project in Machakos County on Saturday, October 24.

The project is jointly funded by the Kenyan government and the African Development Bank.

During the event, Ruto thanked Kalonzo for acknowledging that God was using him to deliver development projects, before adding that the Wiper leader was also serving a divine purpose by helping spread the word about completed roads, water projects and medical services.
