Remi Tinubu Reveals What She Wants for Nigeria Before Leaving Aso Rock in 2031
According to a report by Vanguard published on Saturday, October 24, 2026, Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has expressed hope for a more comfortable and improved Nigeria by the time she leaves the Presidential Villa in 2031.
The First Lady made the remarks on Friday during the inauguration of the Abuja headquarters of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement, a grassroots political organisation established to mobilise support for President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
Speaking at the event, Remi Tinubu said she looked forward to completing her time at Aso Rock and returning to a country where she could enjoy greater comfort and convenience as a woman in her seventies.
She expressed optimism that Nigeria would make further progress before the end of her husband’s tenure, noting that she wanted to experience a country where travelling and moving around would become easier.
“I want to leave Aso Rock, in 2031, by the grace of God, and enter a Nigeria that me as a 70-something-year-old woman will enjoy,” she said.
Remi Tinubu also spoke about developments in Nigeria’s aviation industry, pointing to what she described as visible changes at airports across the country.
She said she hoped to enjoy a more efficient travel experience, particularly when accessing airports and boarding flights.
The First Lady noted that improvements in airport facilities were among the changes she had observed, expressing optimism that further progress would make travelling more convenient for Nigerians.
“I want to get to the airport; I want to travel, you know, so quickly; And you can see our airports too are changing,” she added.
She suggested that some citizens might not have fully recognised the developments taking place in the country. In a humorous comment, she said those who failed to notice the changes might need what she described as “Bola Tinubu eyeglasses,” an apparent reference to the JigiBola initiative.
During the ceremony, the First Lady formally inaugurated the Abuja headquarters of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement, expressing confidence in President Tinubu’s chances of securing another term in office.
She described the commissioning as an important step towards the group’s political activities ahead of the next general election.
According to her, the facility was being opened in anticipation of the President’s victory in the 2027 presidential contest.
“So to the glory of God, and for the victory of Mr President come 2027, I hereby formally commission the PBAT door-to-door movement campaign headquarters Abuja,” she stated.
The PBAT Door-to-Door Movement is expected to focus on grassroots mobilisation and voter engagement as political parties and support groups intensify preparations for the 2027 elections.
The First Lady’s remarks combined optimism about Nigeria’s future with support for her husband’s re-election campaign, as she expressed hope that the country would become a more comfortable place to live and travel in by 2031.
