Birnin Gwari Was Attacked,We Were Told Not To Go,We Rejected And Went With 27 Armoured Vehicles-Sani

Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has recalled how President Bola Tinubu’s campaign team travelled to Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State in December 2022 despite an attack in the area, saying 27 armoured vehicles escorted the presidential candidate and his entourage.

Speaking during an APC campaign rally in Kaduna State on Channels Television on Saturday, October 24, 2026, Sani recounted the security challenges they faced when Tinubu visited the state on December 22, 2022, ahead of the 2023 presidential election.

The governor said they were advised against travelling to Birnin Gwari because the local government had come under attack. However, he said they rejected the advice and proceeded with the journey from Kaduna, which took four hours.

Sani said, “At that time, Birnin Gwari Local Government was attacked and we were told not to go. We rejected the advice and traveled to Birnin Gwari from Kaduna. It was a journey that took us 4 hours, from Kaduna to Birnin Gwari. We went to Birnin Gwari with 27 armoured vehicles escorting you Mr President alongside our vice president and other members of our great party.”

The governor’s account highlighted the security challenges confronting Kaduna State during the 2022 election campaign and the measures taken to protect Tinubu and other senior APC members during their visit to the affected area.
