‘Terry Yegbe is LANDMINE of a player’ – Former Polish international Artur Wichniarek tears Black Stars defender to shreds over poor performances with Lech Poznań

The former Hertha BSC forward has launched a severe criticism against the ex-IF Elfsborg centre-half following his below par performances with the Railwayman in this current campaign

Former Polish international Artur Wichniarek has ripped Ghana international defender Terry Yegby to shreds after labelling him as a ”landmine of a player” who could easily cause high-profile errors at the heart of defence with Lech Poznań in the Polish Ekstraklasa.

The 25-year-old centre-back, who joined the Stadion Poznań campaigners from relegated French Ligue 1 side FC Metz in a transfer deal worth 3m during the summer window of 2026, has yet to live up to expectations following his much-touted transfer switch to the Polish top-flight this term.

Nonetheless, following his unimpressive outing in Lech Poznań’s 1-1 home draw against Sunderland in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday, the former Arminia Bielefeld striker feels the money being spent by the Polish giants in securing the signature of the Ghana international defender has now gone down the drain given his poor showings in his debut campaign so far.

Speaking to an online sports channel Kanał Sportowy, the 49-year-old retired footballer minced no words in his severe criticism of the former Vision FC defender together with his other two team-mates.

He fired to SPORT: ”Lech wants to get into the Champions League because there’s huge money to be made there. Even if they ended up sharing the fate of Slovan Bratislava, went in and lost 8 matches, they’d still just make money… And with that, they could later elevate the team to a higher level.”

He continued; ”But what level are we talking about here? Spending another 4 million on a player like Palma? Or Yegbe? A total of 7 million euros thrown down the drain. Yegbe is a total landmine of a player. Next to him, Skrzypczak looks like a professor. And he’s not. There’s never been a defender like that in Poland, they say—so true, there hasn’t… No one’s ever lobbed the ball into the goal straight from a throw-in like that.”

He has so far featured in 12 appearances across all competitions for Lech Poznań in this ongoing 2026/27 football season.

On the international scene, Yegbe has been cap-tied twice by the Ghana national football team, the Black Stars so far in his international football career.
