Ouaddou Sends Strong Message as Orlando Pirates Prepare to Finish the Job Against African Stars

Orlando Pirates head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou has expressed confidence in his players as the Buccaneers prepare for the second leg of their CAF Champions League qualifying tie against African Stars.

The Soweto giants enter the return fixture with a narrow 1-0 advantage from the first leg and will be hoping to secure qualification for the next round. However, Ouaddou understands that his team must remain focused and avoid costly mistakes if they want to complete the job.

Pirates have put themselves in a favourable position following their first-leg victory, but the coach knows that the tie is far from over. African Stars will have an opportunity to fight back, meaning the Buccaneers cannot afford to become complacent.

The Sea Robbers are also eager to make a stronger impression in this season’s continental competition after suffering a disappointing elimination last campaign.

Their previous journey ended against FC Saint-Eloi Lupopo, who recovered from a three-goal deficit before eventually knocking Pirates out in a penalty shootout. That painful experience remains a reminder that even a comfortable advantage can disappear if a team loses concentration.

Speaking to the media ahead of the upcoming encounter, Ouaddou indicated that his players were prepared for the challenge and understood what was required of them.

The Pirates coach stressed the importance of unity, explaining that the entire squad must work together and remain committed to achieving their objective. He also suggested that the players were eager to take the field rather than being distracted by nerves.

His comments underline the importance of teamwork and tactical discipline as Pirates approach a potentially decisive match.

Playing at home could provide the Buccaneers with additional motivation, but they will still need to perform well on the pitch to secure their place in the next round.

The coaching staff will expect the players to defend their advantage intelligently while remaining dangerous in attack.

For Orlando Pirates, the objective is clear: protect their lead, avoid repeating past mistakes and secure progression in the CAF Champions League. Ouaddou believes his squad is ready, but the final outcome will depend on their performance when the decisive encounter begins.
