Haruna Iddrisu and Asiedu Nketia Meet at Jubilee House as Dagbon Regent Visits Mahama

Haruna Iddrisu and Johnson Asiedu Nketia have met at Jubilee House during a visit by the Regent of Dagbon, Kampakuya Naa Yakubu II, and his delegation to President John Dramani Mahama. The meeting brought two prominent figures in Ghanaian politics together at the seat of government, drawing attention to the occasion and its wider political context.

The visit by the Regent of Dagbon to the Presidency underscores the continuing engagement between traditional authorities and the executive, with the Dagbon Kingdom holding significant cultural and political importance in northern Ghana. President Mahama received the Regent and his delegation as part of what appears to be a formal courtesy visit, though the details of the discussions were not immediately disclosed in the available report.

Haruna Iddrisu, the Member of Parliament for Tamale South and a former Minority Leader, is widely regarded as a key figure within the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and has long been associated with northern Ghana’s political landscape. His presence at Jubilee House alongside Asiedu Nketia, the NDC’s National Chairman, adds a notable dimension to the gathering, given both men’s standing within the party.

The meeting has fueled speculation in political circles, particularly with the suggestion that Haruna Iddrisu is a potential running mate to Asiedu Nketia. Whether such an arrangement is under discussion remains unconfirmed, but the pairing of the two figures at such an occasion is likely to be interpreted as significant by observers tracking the NDC’s internal dynamics and future leadership.

The visit also highlights the interplay between traditional leadership and national politics in Ghana, as the Dagbon Regent’s engagement with the President reflects the continued relevance of chieftaincy in public life. As the story develops, attention will remain on both the substance of the Jubilee House meeting and the political signals sent by the presence of Haruna Iddrisu and Asiedu Nketia at the event.
