Damang Residents Are Now Enjoying the Benefits of Having a Gold Mine — Paul Praises Ibrahim Mahama

Former New Patriotic Party (NPP) Ashanti Regional Communications Director, Paul Yandoh, has praised Ghanaian businessman Ibrahim Mahama for the developmental projects being undertaken in Damang since he took over the gold mine, saying the community is beginning to experience the benefits of hosting a major mining operation.

Paul Yandoh made the remarks while commenting on the developments taking place in the area, explaining that he has personally witnessed the ongoing changes and believes they are making a positive difference in the lives of residents.

According to him, the activities and projects being undertaken in Damang demonstrate how a mining operation can contribute to the development of its host community when attention is given to the needs of the people living there.

Yandoh’s comments focus on the relationship between mining activities and community development, particularly in areas where residents have long expected to benefit from the natural resources found within their locality.

He indicated that the developments he has observed have strengthened his belief that the people of Damang are beginning to see tangible benefits from the presence of the gold mine, rather than simply living in a community where mineral resources are extracted.

His commendation of Ibrahim Mahama also draws attention to the importance of investments that extend beyond mining operations and contribute to improving conditions within surrounding communities.

Mining communities often look to operators and investors to support development initiatives that can improve living conditions and create opportunities for residents, making the delivery of local projects an important part of discussions about the benefits of natural resource extraction.

Yandoh’s observations suggest that the ongoing developments in Damang have given him reason to commend Mahama, particularly because he believes the changes are becoming visible to people in the community.

The former NPP regional communications director’s remarks are also significant because they come from a figure associated with the opposition party, whose public recognition of the developments indicates that the projects have attracted his attention beyond the usual boundaries of party politics.

His comments place emphasis on the practical outcomes of investments in mining communities, where residents expect economic activities around gold extraction to contribute to improvements in their surroundings and create lasting value.

The developments in Damang have therefore become a point of discussion about the role of private investors in supporting communities connected to Ghana’s mining industry, with Yandoh expressing satisfaction with what he says he has witnessed since Mahama took over the mine.

Through his remarks, Yandoh has highlighted the importance of ensuring that residents of mining communities can identify meaningful benefits from the resources extracted from their area, while his commendation draws attention to the development efforts currently taking place in Damang.
