Koku Anyidoho Breaks Silence on Asiedu Nketiah Feud, Reveals Why He Has Finally Forgiven Him

Former Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Samuel Koku Anyidoho, has declared that he has forgiven the party’s National Chairman, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, bringing a message of reconciliation to their long-standing political differences.

In a post on X on Thursday, October 22, Anyidoho reflected on Asiedu Nketiah’s political journey within the NDC, recalling his election as General Secretary in 2005 after replacing the late Dr Nii Armah Josiah Aryeh.

Asiedu Nketiah later became the party’s longest-serving General Secretary before being elected National Chairman.

Anyidoho, who served as his deputy, said their relationship became strained after he decided to contest Asiedu Nketiah for the General Secretary position.

He explained that his decision followed an assurance that the incumbent would not seek another term.

The former deputy general secretary also claimed that Asiedu Nketiah announced his suspension from the party without consulting him after the contest.

Anyidoho maintains that the suspension was invalid and insists that he remains a legitimate member of the NDC.

Despite the breakdown in their relationship, Anyidoho said he had decided to let go of past grievances and concentrate on moving forward.

He explained that he had previously enjoyed working with Asiedu Nketiah and was surprised by the tension that emerged after he challenged him for the position.

Anyidoho further alleged that efforts were made to provoke him into resigning from the NDC following their disagreement.

However, he said he refused to leave the party, choosing instead to maintain his membership despite the difficulties.

He recalled a chance encounter with Asiedu Nketiah at Kumasi airport approximately two months ago, which offered an opportunity for a cordial interaction between the two politicians.

According to Anyidoho, they exchanged greetings, shook hands and joked before having a brief conversation during their subsequent flight to Accra.

The encounter, he suggested, reinforced his belief that their shared history and common interests were greater than their disagreements.

Anyidoho also acknowledged Asiedu Nketiah’s contribution to the NDC and Ghanaian politics, recognising the political legacy he has established over the years.

He commended the party chairman for his achievements and expressed goodwill towards him as he pursues the next stage of his political career, including his reported presidential ambitions.

Anyidoho reiterated that he had moved beyond their past disputes and wished Asiedu Nketiah well in his future endeavours, signalling his willingness to put their differences behind them.
