NEWS IN; Natambeya’s Comms Officer Taken By DCI at Gun Point Amid Fued With Ruto In Western
Reports of the alleged abduction of Amos Boaz, a Communications Officer in Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya’s office, have sparked concern in Kitale town, with questions emerging over his whereabouts and the circumstances surrounding the incident.
According to reports, plainclothes officers believed to be from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) intercepted Boaz in broad daylight before allegedly forcing him into an unmarked vehicle at gunpoint. The officers reportedly drove away with him to an undisclosed location, raising concerns among his colleagues and human rights activists.
The incident has prompted calls for security agencies to clarify whether Boaz was formally arrested and, if so, where he is being held. Those raising concerns have urged authorities to ensure his safety, disclose his whereabouts and respect his legal rights.
The reported incident comes amid growing political tensions between Governor Natembeya and President William Ruto’s administration. The disagreement has attracted attention in the Western region, particularly following disputes surrounding the Masinde Muliro Market.
Boaz’s alleged abduction has also raised questions about the security situation surrounding the county government. Previous reports have pointed to increased security deployments in Trans Nzoia, including the presence of General Service Unit (GSU) officers at the county headquarters and a reported raid at Natembeya’s private residence in Milimani.
Political allies of the governor have condemned the latest development, describing it as an attempt to intimidate the county leadership and restrict criticism of the national government. However, the circumstances surrounding Boaz’s reported disappearance, including the identities of those involved and the reasons for the operation, remain unclear.
Human rights activists and concerned Kenyans have reportedly launched online campaigns demanding answers and calling for intervention by relevant oversight institutions.
The incident has renewed debate about the protection of civil liberties, the conduct of law enforcement officers and the importance of due process when dealing with public officials.
As pressure mounts, attention is turning to the DCI and other relevant authorities for an official explanation. Until authorities provide confirmation, the allegations surrounding Boaz’s disappearance remain unverified, and his whereabouts have not been independently established.
